CARY, N.C. - Polishing off a $28.2 million off-market deal, Healthcare Trust of America Inc. is now in possession of the 153,000-square-foot Medical Park of Cary.
Paul Zeman, senior vice president of Bull Realty Inc.'s Healthcare Real Estate Services group, brought the deal to the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based REIT. The eight single-story structures and a three-story building are adjacent to WakeMed Cary Hospital, the only full-service facility in Cary. The medical office park is long-term leased by clinical medical office users, including Wake Radiology Oncology Services, Cancer Centers of North Carolina, Cary Healthcare Associates and Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic.
The 156-bed hospital, which opened in 1991, underwent a 95,000-square-foot expansion in 2008. The owner, WakeMed, is an 870-bed private, not-for-profit health care system based in Raleigh, N.C.
The Medical Park of Cary is the REIT's second purchase in North Carolina in the past two months. For related story: http://tinyurl.com/32ydwtv
